Pourzand - Akharin list-e emzaha...

Below is the last update of the signatures for unconditional freedom of  Siamak Pourzand which is being published.  Thanks to Dr. Hossein Bagher Zadeh, who started this initiative, and thanks to all those who signed this letter, and also thanks to all those who have signed other petitions and letters on behalf of Siamak Pourzand, I hope to see the freedom of Siamak Pourzand before it is too late.  He is an old man who is under torture and is suffering the harsh conditions of jail, the same conditions that killed Saidi-Sirjani.

And this is final list of the signatures:

I remember the petition on behalf of Saidi-Sirjani was started on SCI newsgroup in 1994 and then Iranian Human Rights Working Group was formed and the following are the appeals by IHRWG in 1994.  It took years before Akbar Ganji and others came out with the real facts that IRI's claim that Saidi Sirjani had died of natural causes was a lie, and that Sirjani had been killed by IRI.  These are the IHRWG appeals of that time:

An Appeal on Behalf of Mr. Saidi Sirjani (Date: July 25th, 1994):

Call for investigation on the death of Mr. Saidi Sirjani (Released: Dec 1st, 1994):

And the other human rights appeals of IHRWG:

My thanks to organizations like IHRWG (www.ihrwg.org) and MEHR (www.MEHR.org) that have stood up for human rights of the Iranian people during all these years. I think the initiative of Dr. Hossein Bagher Zadeh, who is also the Chair of IHRWG, on behalf of Pourzand, has touched so many people. Comparing to Sirjani's case in 1994, the Iranian people are responding a lot more to such calls for human rights and that is the only fortunate thing in this sad unfortunate event.
