International Alliance of Iranian Students
Teachers' Demonstration continued despite Islamic Authorities brutal response
As announced, the Teachers of Iran united in full force alongside students and residents to denounce oppression and dictatorship of the Islamic regime. Despite harsh warning from the regime the demonstrators marched the streets, shouting out anti-regime slogans.
Islamic authorities responded to this demonstration by open firing bullets on demonstrators. Scenes of innocent and wounded demonstrators lying on the street were seen all over Azadi Avenue. Furthermore many demonstrators were seen covered with blood in front of the Presidency as they were brutally beaten with chains and clubs from Plainclothes men affiliated with the Islamic Republic. Tens of demonstrators were arrested. Tear-Gas were seen fired all over the streets of the capital Tehran.
Despite brutal attacks, demonstrators continued shouting out anti-regime slogans and condemning the Islamic Republic in their use of force and brutality. Demonstrators denounced Khatami for his coward ness in hiding behind hard line authorities. Slogans were shouted calling for Kofi Anan's, Secretary General of the UN schedule to visit Tehran, undivided attention to the real situation in Iran. Demonstrators condemned the injustice and inhuman civilization the Islamic Republic has established.
Major cities all over Iran demonstrated in support of the Teachers' Movement. Heroic demonstrations were carried out in Esfahan, Khorram-Abad, Boyr-Ahmad, Amol, Zahedan, Hamedan and Khermanshah. Similar to the capital Tehran, demonstration in these major cities turned bloody and violent as Islamic authorities brutally attacked peaceful demonstrators with Tear-Gas, clubs and chains.
On the 24th of January Reuters news source claimed President Khatami had ordered a special committee to look into teachers' demands for better wages. However the world today sees how the Islamic Republic proceeds to compromise with its people. The only method of compromise the Islamic Republic has been carrying out for the past 23 years is the use of guns, tear-gas, chains, clubs, torture, etc… This is Khatami's idea of Dialogue with the Iranian people.
