Latest reports are pointing to the transfer of Manoochehr Mohammadi from Evin prison to Ghayem Shahr prison in Mazandaran. This event comes proceeding Manoochehr’s sister, Nasrin Mohammadi, meeting with the EU Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. Earlier this month, Manoochehr had sent a public letter from Evin prison to the members of the EU.

The transfer of Mr. Mohammadi was brought about through brutal force. A hunger strike is to be instated by Manoochehr in regards to the violent and inhuman transfer, separating Manoochehr from his colleagues whom of which like Manoochehr were the innocent victims of the July ’99 unrest.

The prison conditions are shamelessly unknown to foreign political officials and media. Earlier this year, a young student named Mohammad Ebrahimi died due to the torturous pain handed down to him in prison. Manoochehr Mohammadi, to this date, has undergone extreme physical and psychological torture. He is currently suffering from infectious gum disease in which for long still has not been treated.

The 18th of Tir is coming near, and the conditions of our beloved remain unchanged. Immediate action is needed! Manoochehr Mohammadi is a freedom-loving fighter who, like other students, has put his own life at risk in the quest for freedom and democracy. Compatriots from all around the globe must participate in the 18th of Tir demonstration in support of the students in Iran.
