Mehrfoundation.com-MS Patients need your support to e-mail a petition
Dear Friends:
As you all know, Mehr Foundation www.Mehrfoundation.com is sponsoring 2 patient with Multiple Sclerosis (primary progressive). Mr. Javad Berenji and Mrs.Arezoo. Javad is a 45 year old man who has been diagnosed with MS since 1988. For the last 5 years, he has been only capable of laying in a bed and lost body movement functions on both sides of his body. The only hope he has is the research that medical technology is doing on embryonic stem cells which IS NOT progressing due to legality of the research. I would like all of you to read the enclosed letter from Advanced Cell Technology and sign the petition and send it via e-mail

so that the senators will understand the urgency of this research. It sure will make a big difference in life of a lot of patients with different conditions such as MS, AIDS, Cancer, Strokes, Diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer disease. Please sign the petition and also E-mail this note to all your data bases, so that this research would not delay any further. Thanks, Morteza Tajally
Dear Morteza,
We have received your email and regret to hear about your friend's condition. We will include your contact information in our files for possible clinical trial work with your patient when we are ready to proceed in that direction in the future. In time, we hope to be able to advise you of additional positive news of our research and what you can do to benefit from it. Please feel free to visit our website, www.advancedcell.com periodically to check the status of our research. You might want to also check out the following clinical trial websites: www.clinicaltrials.com or www.centerwatch.com/main.htm. These websites will list clinical trials currently in progress.
Human embryonic stem cell research and the ability to make stem cells by nuclear transfer (cloning) does not involve the cloning of an individual human being. Rather, it is a promising new approach to making any cell type a patient may need identical to their own cells so that they would not be rejected by the body as foreign. For individuals with disease, this could, simply put, result in a cure.
This promising new approach to the treatment of disease, while still years away, can only move forward if U.S. Senators are convinced that the public wants the therapeutic uses of cloning to go forward while banning the uses of cloning to make an actual cloned human being. We hope you, your family, and your friends will write their Senators and let them know about your support of human embryonic stem cell research and the ability to make stem cells by cloning. Here is a link to help you pursue this quest.
