Dear Mr. Mola:
Followings please find a short report on the establishment of Bashgah and
its first workshop. The details on the syllabus of the workshop will be
attached to the article I promised to e-mail you today, I hope.

Bashgah-e-Ayandeh started its activity as a youth NGO in Iran on February
2000 in Tehran. The idea was initiated by myself , inforced by Mr.
Saninezad, the founder of Farhangsaraye Khavaran. Mr. Mansour Mojadam joined
us later who is a prominent faculty member of IMI (Industrial Management
Institue) known as a resource person in international marketing with a good
command on the new ideas and concepts on the global environment. Mr.
Kazemi, a member of the City Council of Tehran and Mr. Rohani the deputy
director of the City Hall of Mantageh-e-Shesh of Tehran , as well as two
finanacial supporters ( Mr.Saeed Fateh and Mr. Karim Jafarpisheh)
joined us to arrange for the founding of this NGO.

The formal founding board is selected among the active youths of the
existing youth NGO's in Tehran . We meet with them to prepare for the
registeration as well as organizing the main activity. Bashgah is aimed at
preparing the youths for thinking about the future ,and employing the
futurist approach and becoming sensitive toward the domestic as well as the
global trends. We started with the workshops on " Tahavolat-e- Iran and
Jahan" . I designed the workshop with the following objectives in mind:
-introducing the establishment of Bashgah-e-Ayandeh

- making youths think about how important it is to have a vision about the
future which in some respects is a discontinuity compared to the past
- knowing the fact that there is a growing field named " future studies "
with its methodologies
-becoming familiar with the mega trends in the areas of politics, culture
and economics, with an emphasize on the technology
- providing a conceptual framework for a better understanding of the
impacts, threats and opportunities of information and telecommunications
revolution.

We had the first workshop on 15 and 16th of Ordibehesht for a group of 42
attendants , 35 of them were youths from NGOs. They found it very exciting
and inspiring. It was a good start . I am preparing the second workshop.
In the first one we discussed some of the global trends. You will find the
details on the content in the syllabus I e-mail later. The main themes for
the second workshop would be as followings:

-the latest socio-economic-cultural-political developments as well as the
mega trends in Iran
-the future of leisure, work and life : global and domestic trends
-the modern man: an emerging personality profile ?

I would appreciate any comments and advise.
Good Luck
Shahin Kharazmi
