SMCCDI-Student Movement's Fateful Uprising
The Student Movement’s Fateful Uprising
SMCCDI (Public Statement)
November 21, 2002
"If You Rise, If I Rise, All Will Rise"
Again, the history-making will of a generation- that is
well on its way to becoming the liberating force of Iran in
the twenty-first century- has shaken the government of
lunacy and atrocity making the oppressed country the focus
of international attention. It is now more than ten days
that the glorious student uprising has been going on with
the support of university instructors from Tehran and other
cities. Ten clamorous and glorious days that the students-
by leveraging the experiences of the past, and with
applaudable thoughtfulness and wisdom- have step-by-step
turned their logical requests into political demands, and
are opening their path towards organizing an
all-encompassing widespread student movement in line with
the rightful demands of Iran’s Third Force.
Indeed, it was close to 24 years that the minions of the
[Islamic Republic] terror machine were engaged in full
force in the systematic killing of free-thinkers, both
domestically and abroad; and without encountering
widespread resistance, they were busy hunting their
handpicked victims. During this time, the Islamic Republic
displayed- quite well- the face of a real ideological and
theocratic government: a savagery and cruelty the likes of
which can only be found in such dogmatic governments. Along
this line, they established courts for persecuting free
thought, sent tens of thousands of political prisoners and
prisoners of conscience to the gallows of death, and
imprisoned others in their dungeons.
Verily, the silence of many political and enlightened
currents in the face of atrocities that took place in the
name of defending Islam and the Revolution during the
beginnings of the mullahs’ seizure of power gave an
opportunity to the butchers of the Islamic Republic to
tighten the noose of persecuting thought. Gradually, and
with great caution, they even went after their comrades
that had attained beliefs other than those of the regime
and had spoken out in criticism of it. Now, it is clear to
all how the Hezbollah Mafia have invaded the democratic and
popular establishments. Alas, under the ‘active
passivism’ of the so-called reformists, they go to
spend the last wind-breaking uphill road in order to show
the flag of the Islamic Republic’s pure dictatorship.
Students, Intellectuals, Struggling Freedom-loving Nation
of Iran:
This is not the first time that an intellectual has been
sentenced to death in the courts of injustice of the
Islamic Republic for their views, beliefs, and outlooks.
The strugglers of the path to freedom in Iran have in the
past seen many of their intellectuals face the death squads
or the gallows. Other times, their dead bodies have been
found mutilated by the hands of the Islamic Republic in
their own homes. Everyone recalls the en masse killings of
the summer of 1367 (1988) when the leader of the revolution
drank the poison goblet of peace, the assassination of the
free-thinkers abroad during the era of the Commander of
Construction [ex-President Rafsanjani], and the sinister
incident of the Chain Murders during the era of Dialogue
Among Civilizations [President Khatami].
The history of Abrahamian literature is a true witness to
the petrifying crimes that rulers and judges of such
religions have committed based on their own self-righteous
interpretations of the relevant Holy books. People have
been sent to the gallows and cross for the crime of
maintaining beliefs and thoughts other than those of the
establishment. However, the great mistake of the Islamic
Republic is that not only does it not fully understand this
history, but also that they do not understand that the
growing of awareness and the expansion of science have
always exposed the deceitful claims of the unrighteous
promoters of religion.
If the Church was able to rule for three centuries in
‘un-enlightened’ Europe and send many
intellectuals to their deaths with the accusation of being
against the Holy book, all have seen how with the expansion
of discoveries and inventions- especially with the
invention of the printing machine and the resulting
widespread publications- the forgeries of the Church were
exposed by the Protestants and the countdown for the
disintegration of religious reigns in Europe started.
Without a shadow of a doubt, if the church withstood three
centuries, in our times, the Islamic Republic will not last
beyond a quarter century, as it does not posses such power
to maintain its grasp, and in the age of satellite
technology and information superhighways, the nation will
not allow a great and cultured country like Iran to be
ruled by inhumane tribal rule.
Students, Intellectuals, Struggling Freedom-loving Nation
of Iran:
Now, the Islamic Republic is getting closer and closer to
the end of its disgraceful life. In these final moments,
with their historically crooked thinking, they think that
by intensifying their oppressive measures and by choking
the voice of criticism they can continue sucking the blood
of the nation for a while longer. Indeed, the brutalized
nation of Iran has paid a high price so far and may pay a
higher price yet: Not only have the mullahs committed many
atrocities, not only have they plundered the national
wealth, these [clergy] who know nothing of God- with the
undying support of their leader- have imported blood
infected with [HIV] and meat infected with Mad Cow Disease-
the latter which, having been processed in plants belonging
to the Islamic Coalition, clearly illustrates that for
filling their wide sacs [the mullahs] will abstain from no
crime. The silence of the ‘Reformist’ lords in
face of these treasonous and criminal acts attests that
they are all sitting at the same proverbial table, and that
if on occasion they cry out, it is only to attain a larger
portion: they do not feel sorry for the oppressed nation of
Iran.
However, among the benefits of the high price [the nation
has paid], is the ending of the holiness of the cloak and
turban that Iranian Muslims revered until before the
mullahs crawled to power. During the past twenty-four
years, which the Islamic Revolution has shown its true face
to the people, on the one hand, the religious leaders and
authorities who met the [necessary] comprehensive religious
guidelines [to guide the devout] were condemned to prison
or house-arrest and the Specialized Court for [dealing
with] the Clerics excommunicated many of the clergy; while,
on the other hand, many other clergy abstained from public
preaching and sermons as they were too preoccupied with
pillaging the wealth of the nation! The astronomic wealth
of the lords and their prince-lings has become an aphorism
for everyone; while, everyday, the population of homeless
street-children and the jobless are on the rise. That love
and compassion that till yesterday existed in the hearts of
the great Iranian nation for the clergy, has turned into a
hatred that has even caused some of the clergy to complain
about the regime; and, for quite a while now, new
interpretations of Islam have been heard from experts on
Islam and Islamic studies under the name of Islamic
Protestantism as they try to combine the rules and
regulations of Islam with national interests, human rights,
and scientific findings.
Dear Struggling Students:
Now that the student movement, with its continuous motion,
has attained a new momentum and possesses the support of
the university instructors, intellectuals, and
freedom-lovers of Iran and the world, it is discarding the
imperfections from itself that had been forced upon this
movement, to find its true historic and future-making path.
The pyramid of the Islamic Republic’s leadership is
petrified of the re-emergence of the student movement
uprising- as the forbearers of freedom and thought- so, the
heads of the three branches along with the leader are
calling the students to self restraint. Since the so-called
government of ‘civil dialogue’- as in the past-
does not posses the gumption to issue demonstration permits
and with their usual complacent silence has again recreated
the atmosphere for the Hezbollah thugs to violate the
sanctity of the university by killing, beating, and
repressing the students, it is imperative for the student
movement to declare its message on a national scale in
order to attract the support of a large segment of society.
The demands of the movement should not be limited to the
overturning of the death sentence or release of a single
person. [Rather], as in the past, the release of all
political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, the
abolition of the death penalty, the implementation of the
contents of the International Declaration of Human Rights,
and a referendum for determining the type of democratic and
secular regime to be established in Iran should be on the
top of the agenda of the movement.
The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy
in Iran has rallied all its force and muster for the
express purpose of achieving as peaceful a passage as
possible beyond the Islamic Republic based upon the
principles of civil disobedience; and, ultimately, the
establishment of a democratic and secular government. Along
this line, based upon democratic beliefs, not only does the
Committee defend the freedom of speech and thought of all
Iranian citizens and request the release of all political
prisoners and prisoners of conscience, it also welcomes any
kind of research for the expulsion of superstition and
excess from religion. This Committee believes that in the
democratic and secular Iran of the future even the clergy,
modern religious thinkers, and new interpreters of religion
can play a valuable role in advancing the society.
Long Live Freedom!
Long Live Secularism!
