In Memory of Dr. Bakhtiar

Eleven years ago, Dr. Bakhtiar, who had escaped at least two previous assassination attempts, was tragically murdered in his home along with his secretary, Soroosh Katibeh, in a Paris suburb, by the terrorist agents of the Islamic Republic. The murderers of Dr. Bakhtiar and Soroosh Katibeh were aided by the French Secret Service and the then French President, Francois Mitterrand.

Shapour Bakhtiar can undoubtedly be regarded as the father of Iran's contemporary secular movement. Although the terrorists managed to physically eleminate him, his ideals lived on and a new generation of Iranians have taken up his banner to fight for a better and more prosperous Iran. Thus proving the futility of terrorists.

May his resolute spirit guide us to victory. Our best contribution to the memory of this national hero is to join the present day struggle againt the medieval forces of darkness ruling over our beloved motherland.
