Iranians in London Protest at Kharrazi's Visit

Wed. 5th Feb 2003 - More than one hundred UK based Iranians turned out today
outside Chatham House in London to protest at the meeting held there between
Kamal Kharrazi, Islamic Republic's Foreign Secretary and a section of British
businessmen.

The protesters who consisted of various Iranian opposition groups and
individuals held up Sun and Lion flags, placards displaying some of the Islamic
Republic's atrocities and T-shirts of Ahmad Batebi, the jailed Iranian student,
in order to display their discontent at this meeting.

Some of the slogans shouted today, mainly in English, were:

Kharrazi Terrorist ,   Out  Out Out
Kharrazi Murderer,    Out  Out Out
Islamic Terrorists, Out Out Out

Down with Islamic regime of murder
Down with Islamic regime of torture

No more deals, Human rights in Iran, Right now!

Democracy for Iran, Peace for Middle East
Down with Taliban, In Kabul and in Tehran

Kamal Kharrazi left the building just after 16:30 amid a barrage of jeers and
boos from the protesters. Some eggs were also thrown at the motorcade.

The only incident which marred this splendid show of unity amongst the
protestors, was when a few members of the Workers Communist Party of Iran tried
to bring down the Sun and Lion flags but they were quickly discouraged by the
rest of the protesters.
