Mohammad Reza Shajarian,  Hossein Alizadeh,  Kayhan Kalhor,  Homayoun Shajarian

October -November 2002 Tour ...

This program features three of the most important figures in classical Persian music who will be touring again following last year's 15-city sell-out tour: Iran's great vocalist Mohammad Reza Shajarian; tar (long-necked lute) maestro Hossein Alizadeh; kamancheh (spike-fiddle) virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor, who has been instrumental in popularizing Persian music in the West through his solo concerts and work with the Ghazal Ensemble. They will be accompanied by Shajarian's son, Homayoun Shajarian (tombak - goblet drum, vocals), who has performed with his father on many tours throughout the last decade, and will accompany him on vocals. Their program will feature all new works drawing on the rich heritage of Persian classical music and ancient Sufi and contemporary poetry.
