Summons of Demonstrations in Tehran

The National Union of Iranian Students and Graduates

Oppressed People of Iran,

The 18th of Tir is the anniversary of the tragic attacks upon the Tehran Student Dormitory; an event that resulted in the bloodbath of brave, innocent students whose only crime was freely calling for freedom and democracy.

Yes, 3 years has passed since the dreadful incident of 18 Tir 1378 but still our brave students are held captive and placed under torturous physical and psychological pain, alongside with other political prisoners and freethinkers.

Manoochehr Mohammadi: 13 years of imprisonment

Akbar Mohammadi: Death sentence altered to 15 years imprisonment

Abbas Deldar: Death sentence altered to 20 years imprisonment

Mehrdad Lahrasabi: Death sentence altered to 15 years imprisonment

Hossein Yekta: 3 years of imprisonment

Forokh Shafi’i: 3 years of imprisonment

Ahmad Batebi: Death sentence altered to 15 years imprisonment

And the list goes on…

Yes, 100 years of imprisonment is this backwards regime’s answer to the freedom-fighting students’ call for freedom and justice.

Yes, 100 years of imprisonment was the answer to the court case of the youth generation and students and oppressed people.

Yes, our dear Compatriots,

3 years has passed since the July ’99 unrest, the days in which students and the youth sent their rejections to the dictatorship and oppression.

And freedom fighters will continue this path for freedom and defiance against the seeds of evil.

The anniversary of this tragic event has arrived and once again the time has come to send our support for the political prisoners, the youth and captive students. The student leaders of the July ’99 unrest are in desperate need of support from compatriots alike.

The freedom of the students and youth of our motherland from oppression and corruption and dictatorship is the unified resolution from our Nation’s people.

The freedom of our land’s good and wisdom will guide the people on this day to the streets of the cities.

Let us unite, apart from all ideologies and beliefs, in rejection to dictatorship and corruption and let us unite in support of our compatriots and build a brighter future for the youth and oppressed women of Iran.

Passionate Men and Women of Iran,

Sorrowful Youth of Iran,

For how long must we remain silent against this dictatorship and corruption!

The 18th of Tir is our chance to voice our infinite demands for freedom and justice and good tidings for the brave young compatriots.

The 18th of Tir is our chance to voice our infinite demands for freedom and justice to the entire world, alongside our rejections to injustice and oppression in which the regime has brought forth on our noble land.

Our presence on the main streets of our cities in the step forward towards the freedom of our youth and captive students, and a step forward towards freedom and democracy in Iran.

Be aware that the presence of the repressive Islamic authorities stands alone as their weakness and decline, and their fear of their fate.

Passionate Men of Iran,

The Youth and Courageous Women of our Motherland,

And our Oppressed Captive Students,

All Stand Alongside Us.

Date: 18 Tir, 7pm; Tehran University and bordering streets
