A Letter from the family of Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad
In the Name of Freedom and Greatness to the Human Race
We are gathered here today in remembrance to the third anniversary of the brutal attacks against the freethinkers and students of our nation. Three years ago, for the establishment of basic human rights for themselves and the entire people of Iran, the students brought forth their goals and desires to the streets. In answer to their peaceful demonstration, the students of Iran were subjected to the inhuman Islamic Security Forces.
The opponents of the freethinkers and students of Iran pronounce that the future of the people must remain in correspondence to the established future the government has set forth, however philosophy of today’s people does not accept this notion and does not accept an unbreakable commitment or ideology. Three years has past since we’ve witnessed Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad captured from the Student Dormitory by the opponents of freedom and human rights.
Today, in the presence of students, freethinkers and close friends of Ezzat, I want to share with you what Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad’s family has gone through. Friends, it is very painful. They (the Islamic regime) wanted us to withdraw Ezzat from our hearts and remain silent or stand in opposition to the students, freethinkers and freedom-lovers, however though we were in great need of economical relief we did not accept what was requested from us.
Before, Ezzat had set his goal and aim towards freedom, justice, and prosperity of the human race, human rights, and the Iranian people. He participated as a loyal member these freedom-fighting groups.
When the opponents of freethinkers and freedom-lovers realized that we did accept their deal, they savagely captured Ezzat and sentenced him. Dear Ezzat was sentenced to death.
Today, in the presence of students, freethinkers and human rights activists inside Iran and abroad we announce that Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad was not armed with weapons or a radical thought, nor was he in aim of creating disturbance with a fellow compatriot. Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad was in aim of free thought and freedom and basic human rights, and began writing, and his books remaining for readers. Nevertheless his writings were a portrayal of bravery. He had always committed himself to all of you and always remained as a part of all of you.
Without a doubt, the spirit of Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad is not a relief for the captive students. It is important for us that we do not sit back in regards to the freedom of political prisoners and captive students. We wish the best for all of you and leave you with a small portion from Ezzat Ebrahim-Nejad’s poems.
It is not a mystery,
My future was visible from the beginning of my dreams.
Is it not Strange, Dear Messenger?
The Days that came not with the wind,
And the lonely Lily,
And chattered the unbelievable death,
And my poems,
That rests as another interpretation to these dreams,
And Life that passes by like the wind… Is it not strange?
